Hmmm… There’s two ways of looking at it… Either as karma to pay for bad things done in the past or just a sign that we have to change something in our lives.
Just a thought.

Of course not.. God stopped punishing people since the great deluge… if you would read the bible from then on it was the devil that brings people to tests… like job and Jesus Christ.
